All the elements have come together for the Prince Rupert Rampage, with the CIHL team putting on some offensive clinics in their first three games of the season, the Rhinos jumping out of the gate to an undefeated 3-0 record so far and holding top spot in the CIHL after their second weekend of play for 2018-19.
Friday and Saturday saw the Rampage win both on the road and at home in a pair of high scoring contests for week two of the year.
Friday night the team was in Terrace to help the River Kings host their home opener, with the visitors from Prince Rupert providing for some good entertainment for fans of the defending CIHL champion Terrace squad.
The Rampage took an early lead in period one as Jean Luc Fourier found the mark, with Cody Hodges getting the assist at 2:51 of the opening frame, a marker followed by Cole Morris five minutes later as Judd Repole collected the assist.
The River Kings bounced back with two goals of their own to send things to the locker room tied at 2 for the intermission.
The River Kings grabbed the lead in the second period potting two goals, with the Rhinos only found their range once in the middle period, as Tyler Ostrom collected an unassisted goal late in the period.
The Terrace squad suggested that they might be ready to run away with the game early in the third taking a 5-3 at the five minute mark, but ninety seconds later the Rampage launched an impressive offensive blizzard, picking up four unanswered goals in the space of eight minutes.
Michael Keyes launched the comeback at 6:32, assisted by Cole Atchison and Cody Hodges, four minutes later Marcus Atchison found the range with Judd Repole and Jacob Santurbano providing the helpers.
Fifteen seconds later Jared Meers roared down the ice to add one more goal to the Rampage totals assisted by Trent Davis, followed two minutes later by Cody Cringan who benefited from the help of Cole Morris and Jared Meers to make for goal number for Prince Rupert on the night.
Terrace stemmed some of the bleeding at just before the thirteen minute mark, only to be answered by Judd Repole who scored what became the game winner at 14:24 assisted by Marcus Atchison and Kory Movold.
The Rampage held off a frantic push by the River Kings, surrendering one goal but then locking things down to secure the 8-7 road win.
David Wood recorded the win on the night, while Terrace's Darren Beaulieu was tagged with the loss.
The penalty totals weighed heaviest on the River Kings as frustration at the Rampage scoring burst of the second sent Skyler Andrews to the box with 19 minutes in penalty time, in total the River Kings were assessed 29 minutes on the night, while the Rampage were in the box for 20 minutes on the night.

Saturday night was home opener night for the Rampage and a good crowd was in attendance to welcome the CIHL season back for another year as the Kitimat Ice Demons came to town to break the ice on a new year.
The Rampage were amped up for the game, off to a quick start with three unanswered goals in the first seven minutes of play.
Jared Carter started things off two and a half minutes into the period, assisted by Jared Meers, the second Rampage marker coming at 6:22 as Cody Hodges combined with Tyler Ostrom for the goal.
Jared Meers was on the board at 7:14, assisted by Patrick Robert and Cody Cringan, the three goal lead holding until Kitimat finally answered at the ten minute mark.
Thirty seconds later the Rampage were back on the score sheet as Jared Carter picked up his second of then night assisted by Hayden Long and Jared Meers, Long himself would score four minutes later with Brady Ward and Jordan Aubee with the helpers, the marker sending the Rampage to the room at intermission with a 5-1 lead over the visitors.
Prince Rupert picked up two more goals in the middle period, as Jared Meers found the range with an unassisted goal at 5:48, then scored again at 8:50 with some help from Tyler Ostram.
The hat trick and two assists on the night making for a five point night for the Rampage captain.
Kitimat clawed back one at the seven minute mark, reducing the Rupert lead to 7-2 at the end of the period.
The final period was all Rampage as they put away the Ice Demons with a burst of offense and strong defensive play.
Cody Cringan led off the third period scoring parade at two minutes, assisted by Judd Repole, seven minutes later Trent Davis was on the score sheet, with helpers going to Jordan Aubee and Cody Hodges.
Kitimat interrupted the Rampage attack at 12 minutes to claim their third and final goal of the night, with Prince Rupert locking things down for the rest of the game, with Cole Atchison accounting for the two final markers coming in the last minute of play, assists going to Cole Morris and Hayden Long.
The final flurry making for the 11-3 finale score at games end.
The long night for the Ice Demons played out in frustrations and trips to the penalty box with 36 minutes of penalty time assessed to the visitors on 10 infractions, while the Rampage spent 22 minutes in the box, on 7 penalty calls for the night.
Interestingly enough, despite six power play opportunities, none of the Rampage goals were with the extra attacker.
Brett Roth recorded the first home ice win for the Rampage at the Jim for 2018-19, while Nick Almeida took the loss for the visitors.

The Rampage get a week off from their CIHL duties, with their next action set for Saturday October 20th when the Quesnel Kangaroos come to town for a 7 PM start at the Civic Centre.
The landscape could change a bit in the standings by that time, but by the time Quesnel comes to town the Rhinos will still be holding down top spot in the CIHL and hosting an impressive Goals For total in the standings for their early season efforts.
