With the 2018 edition of Fire Safety Week coming to an end over the weekend, the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue department was sharing word of one more community initiative of note, this one providing a benefit for Seniors in the city.
As part of a community involvement program hosted by Pembina Pipelines, the PRFD has just over 70 smoke detectors to be distributed to Seniors in the community, part of a 4,000 dollar grant program hosted by Pembina, the Alberta based energy company that is set to begin work on their LPG Terminal on Watson Island.
Distributed through the company's Fire Safety Grant, the project not only provides for smoke detectors but an information campaign to create more awareness of fire safety in the community.
The Fire Safety Grant is one of a number of community initiatives that Pembina takes on each year
across North America and as they gain a larger presence in the community, residents an organizations may find other opportunities to access funding for projects in the Prince Rupert area.
