Conservation Service Officers put down wolf in Port Edward
Members of the BC Conservation Officer Service have put down a wolf in Port Edward, the animal was killed on Monday after reports of it coming into the town site.
The District of Port Edward provided the update on its Community Facebook page Monday evening, making note that the Conservation Officer Service will now send samples to a lab to try to determine if this wolf was the one involved in a late Friday night incident that saw a lone wolf attack on a Port Edward elder.
That incident left the man with serious injuries requiring hospitalization, with transport subsequently required to Vancouver General Hospital for further treatment.
As part of their work in the region, eight Conservation Service Officers were working in both Prince Rupert and Port Edward.
The Conservation Officer Service has not updated their notes on their work in the area since a May 31st review of their ongoing efforts to locate the wolf that was involved in the attack.
