UBCM outlines Gas Tax expectations for British Columbia communities through to 2023/24

Municipal governments across the Northwest now have a good idea as to what they can expect when it comes to Federal Gas Tax Funding, with the Union of British Columbia Municipalities publishing a list of the Community Works Fund Allocations  from 2021-2024.

The money which comes from the taxes you pay at the pump every time you fill up with gas, are directed to Municipal officials as part of the Canada Community Building Fund.

The information release from the UBCM last week provides a list of the money delivered to date and projected into the future.

For Prince Rupert the UBCM notes that for the most part the municipality can look forward to a half million dollars for each period of distribution, except for the final year of the program which will deliver just a bit extra:

Communities across the region use the funding for a range of projects, in Prince Rupert past Gas Tax Funding has been used on paving programs and this year the City noted that its soon to launch recycling program would be funded through Gas Tax funding revenues, with an additional 22 contribution from city residents through their utility payment in 2022.
