By any measure, the last thirty one days at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre have made a mark on the community, with a month long initiative by the CIHL Prince Rupert Rampage, now on the cusp of surpassing 100,000 dollars in fundraising for the fight against Cancer.
The month long campaign saw the 60 plus volunteers associated with the Rampage, along with the team members and management put the focus on the Cancer battle.
And from that the community responded, both with individual donations from the fans each home game; to contributions from the local business and industrial community which have brought some eye opening figures.
Among the notes from the CIHL team a tally that shows the impact the month had.
With over 12,000 dollars in individual donations and over 87,000 from the businesses and industries in the region as of the end of January.
The Rampage posted an update to their work this morning and the success of the program and the money raised, is a testimony to their work and the sense of community that they build in Prince Rupert.
The numbers the Rampage note are not yet final ... with a further update to come later this month.
A scroll down their Social media page provides just a glimpse of the community support that they received in their Fights Cancer campaign.
As for the team, they turn back to their immediate focus for the ice on the weekend ahead with a road game in Kitimat on Friday.
Followed by the final home game for 2023, with Smithers in town on Saturday with a 7 PM puck drop.
The two games key to the Rampage push towards the playoffs later this month.
