The City of Prince Rupert's airport ferry will be charting a course for Victoria next April for refit |
Mr. Venditelli's review for council took less than one minute, with members of Council asking no questions of his report following his presentation.
As we outlined on the blog on Tuesday, the Point Hope bid was $5,000 less than the next bid offer from a North Vancouver yard and $134,000 less than that of a Nanaimo bid.
Canadian Maritime Engineering of Nanaimo -- $481,772.31
Allied Shipbuilders of North Vancouver -- $352,308.25
Point Hope Maritime of Victoria -- $347,336.46
Since Council made no inquiries of Mr. Venditelli during the public session, residents of the city looking for a little more background on the refit plans can consult Tuesday's Agenda package for the full report finding his extended notes on the topic on page 6.
From the report we learn that the cost of a replacement barge to go into service while the refit is underway, will bring the estimated total cost for the refit project to be set at 611,336.46.
The work is expected to take place in April of 2019, with a one month timeline in place for the Airport Ferry to be down south and out of service in Prince Rupert.
Mr. Venditelli's review of the process for Council can be viewed from the City's Video archive starting at the two minute mark.
