Planned electrical system improvements to Lax Kw'alaams have required in a planned power outage for the Northwest Community today, an outage that was to affect all of the community and was anticipated to last for eight hours.
The planned power interruption was scheduled to start at 8 am and run until 4 PM, residents were advised to power back up in increments when power was restored.
BC Hydro provided some guidelines for the return of power to the community, advising to plug in or turn on only what was really needed to start with, that way the system would not become overloaded as all residents power up at once.
