Minor Hockey week in Prince Rupert now underway

Like many communities across Canada, Prince Rupert is celebrating Minor Hockey this week, with practice sessions and league games taking place through the week for you to check out over the next seven days.

Players and fans of the game can show their spirit on Thursday when during Jersey Day in Prince Rupert, where residents wear the sweater of their favourite team to school or work to show their support for Minor Hockey week in British Columbia.

Back on the ice, the weekend brings a popular local tournament to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, when the PRMHA hosts the Peewee House Tournament, from January 22nd to 24th, with the Rupert Safeway and Storey's Excavating teams taking on challengers from  Burns Lake, Terrace and Smithers.

The first game gets underway at 5:15 on Friday with tournament action through the day Saturday, wrapping up on Sunday with the Finals starting at 8 AM with the Final game of the weekend set for 11:30 AM.

Later in the day Sunday, Minor Hockey week comes to an end with a Free Public Skate sponsored by the PRMHA taking place from 3:15 to 4:30 PM.
