Learning more about the new curriculum to be introduced at School District 52 is on the agenda this evening, as the School District hosts a public information forum at Charles Hays Secondary School.
The public session starts at 7 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room at the Secondary School on Prince Rupert Boulevard, kicking off a process that is designed to gather information from parents, students and other partner groups when it comes to the new BC curriculum and how the District plans to put it in motion in Prince Rupert.
Following the presentation, the District plans to launch a Thoughtexchange survey of students, parents and staff members. The information gathered from that process will help the District to determine what areas of student access are important to education stakeholders in the community.
The feedback received will help the District as they prepare a document called the Framework for Enhancing Student Learning. The locally developed document is designed to support British Columbia's education transformation, incorporating the context and unique opportunities of the local community.
The Framework is also designed to help the School District measure student access with a focus on continuous improvement.
The background on tonight's public forum and the larger overview of the Framework was part of the notes released to the public from last week's School District 52 Board meeting, you can review that information package here.
