Pee Wee Hockey tourney starts tonight to help bring Minor Hockey Week in Prince Rupert to an end

Hockey fans on the North Coast that need a little puck fix before the start of next week's Rampage playoff run might want to check out the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre this weekend.

Starting today and carrying through until Sunday, the Prince Rupert Minor Hockey Association is hosting a Pee Wee House level  hockey tournament, featuring two Prince Rupert teams and visiting squads from Terrace with two teams attending, while Burns Lake and Smithers will have one representative each.

The weekend tournament, brings together minor hockey players, coaches and parents to town and offers up a good chance to see the game played at what could be the sport's best level, where the fun of the game still seems to be the main ingredient to Canada's national game.

The schedule for the weekend tournament can be found below:

With twelve games available to take in from 5 PM tonight through the weekend to the Tournament finals, there's ample opportunity to head to the rink, take in some entertaining hockey and cheer on the local and out of town players through the weekend.

Once the tournament ends mid afternoon Sunday, the final event of Minor Hockey Week will  take place.  With a chance for all to pull on the blades and take advantage of a Free Public skate hosted by the Prince Rupert Minor Hockey Association, the Free Skate starts at 3:15 and continues on to 4:30 PM.
