With 567 new cases of COVID in BC Today, Dr. Henry and Minister Dix put new recommended measures in place for Lower Mainland

Doctor Bonnie Henry announced
four new public health measures
for Fraser and Vancouver Health
As part of a Special Saturday COVID-19 briefing, Doctor Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix relayed the latest case count for Saturday making note of the growing level of "dangerously high" COVID cases and outbreaks of recent weeks.

The volume of new cases that have been reported those that are primarily in the Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal Health regions.

Prefacing the main message of the day, Dr. Henry noted that the total today alone was 567 cases of COVID in the last 24 hours, with much of the transmission coming from private homes or workplace settings.

“Today, we are reporting 567 new cases, for a total of 17,716 cases in British Columbia. There are 31 people in intensive care.

There has been one new COVID-19 related death, for a total of 276 deaths in British Columbia. We offer our condolences to everyone who has lost their loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There have been 122 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 411 in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, 22 in the Interior Health region, nine in the Northern Health region bringing the Norther total to 459.

No new cases of COVID were reported in people who reside outside of Canada.

As a result of the growing surge across the province, the two top public health officials have announced four new public health measures, stepping back from the provincial restart actions.

The orders will be in effect for two weeks until November 23rd, which Doctor Henry notes will give the province a change to stop the spread of the virus across the two largest health authority regions in BC.

“Today, new provincial health officer orders have been put in place for all individuals, places of work and businesses across the Fraser and Vancouver Coastal health regions, with the exception of Hope, the central coast and the Bella Coola Valley.

The orders are in effect starting today, Saturday, Nov. 7 at 10 p.m. through to Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at 3 p.m.

Right now, it is very important that everyone in these regions significantly reduces their social interactions.

The orders focus on three areas: social gatherings, group physical activities and workplaces, and are outlined in the following backgrounder.

We are putting measures in place to better protect people who participate in group physical activities and we are also requiring all businesses and worksites to revisit and ensure strict adherence to their COVID-19 safety protocols."
