In the January 12th session Principal Michele Cross-Pomponio and Vice-Principal Paramjit Khaira from Prince Rupert Middle School provided an overview of changes to school operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the notes they passed along was the use of masks in commons spaces, frequent hygiene and adjustments to the cohort program. As well the two school administrators observed that the day shift custodian Don Davies makes regular visits to the common areas towards disinfecting the space.
The theme of Field Trips also made for some discussion, with approval having been previously been granted by the District for student cohorts from PRMS to visit Shames Mountain, those trips are scheduled for February 8 and 22, which falls after the current travel restrictions are scheduled to come to an end.
Those trips however, were subsequently cancelled as the District could not confirm busses for the dates scheduled.
February will bring the first of the District's Budget Consultation process for 2021-2022, with the public engagement process to take place online on Thursday, February 4th at 7PM
Pre registration is required in order to set up the small talking group portion of the night, should you wish to participate in the event contact Tamara Dickens at tamara.dickens@sd52.bc.ca to register for the consultation night.
The School District also made note of the next Professional Development Day for the Middle and Elementary schools, that is set for this Friday, January 22nd.
The next Professional Development Day for Charles Hays and Pacific Coast Schools comes on February 12th.
