Employers in Prince Rupert invited to check out info session tomorrow on plans for worker recruitment in the region

A much discussed and anticipated initiative to recruit and retain members of the workforce in the Prince Rupert area will be launched later this month. And tomorrow night, employers throughout the region can get a sneak preview on what is planned as part of an information session to take place online.

The Make Prince Rupert Home program, which is a partnership of the City of Prince Rupert, Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures of the Pacific Northwest and Prince Rupert Port Authority, will host a webinar Thursday evening at 7PM

Those who participate will learn more about the program and how the marketing initiative will support local employers as they seek out employee recruitment in the Prince Rupert area.

Those who are participating in today's online Chamber Luncheon will get a sneak preview of the Thursday event.

To participate in the Thursday evening webinar you will need to register with the Chamber of Commerce, find out more about the program and how to register for the webinar here.

Hiring pressures and the need to recruit workers to the community made for the focus of a presentation to Prince Rupert City Council back in 2018, that overview from three members of the business community highlighted some of the challenges that local business and service providers were having at that time.

The Prince Rupert Port Authority has also made note in the past as to how the ever increasing expansion of terminal and port development will continue to bring a need to recruit more workers to the community.

As one of their projects, the City's Redesign Rupert program released a labour market study in December of 2019 that highlighted the need for an employee recruitment strategy.
