CN Rail looks to move forward on Rail expansion on Prince Rupert waterfront

The area of note for planned CN track expansion along the
Prince Rupert waterfront

There could soon be some rail infrastructure expansion taking place on the Prince Rupert waterfront, as  Canadian National Railway looks to move forward on plans to add to twin their rail lines in an area from DP World Fairview Terminal to the Drax Pinnacle Pellet Facility.

The National railway is now looking to advance  their plan first submitted with Transport Canada's  Registry of projects back in July.

We outlined the original application notes at that time and you can review that item here.

The project will require some marine infilling in various locations along the proposed alignment, with the work required to take place from the shoreline and existing rail embankment.

The original start date was listed as October 1st, with a completion date of March 1st 2023, so it would appear that the work timeline is a bit behind schedule and the completion date may be subject to change.

There is a comment period currently underway related to the work, with the Deadline to express your views set for December 17th.

The details towards the project can be reviewed from the Registry by using File Number  2022-506792
