Winterfest Schedule provides something for everyone for first weekend of December

This year's Winterfest promises a significantly larger volume of events to check out than our recent COVID years had allowed for and Prince Rupert's Special Events Society is sharing the list of what's ahead for the first weekend of December.

From the opening scene for the CHSS presentation of SpongeBob the Musical on December 1st at the Lester Centre to the last burst of the fireworks Saturday night over the Harbour, the launch of our Winter holiday season should make for a busy one for those taking in the range of activities available.

Among some of the key events is the Popular Tree Lighting which event takes place Saturday December 3rd at the Prince Rupert Court House Lawn.

The Winter Sail Past is back, part of Saturday evening's finale to Winterfest which will also include the fireworks display over the Harbour. You can register to the participate in the Sail past by contacting the Harbour Master at RupertPort or by dropping into the Port Interpretive Centre.

To get so many of these popular events underway takes the dedication of a core group of Volunteers with the Special Events Society and they are always looking for new members looking to lend a hand in delivering the community activities.

Towards that quest for new members, a Volunteer Sign Up Day is set for tomorrow, where you can learn more about what is required and how you can help out. The sign up is taking place at the Hecate Strait building on Market Place behind the Court House.

Follow the Special Events Facebook page for more updates on the way to the start of Winterfest next Friday.
