Northwest athletes set to make their marks in University/College athletics for 2022-23

Student athletes from Prince Rupert have put their focus on
Basketball and Soccer so far in 2022-23 University or College Sports

Residents of the Northwest have no shortage of athletes to cheer for as the 2022-23 University/College Sports calendar moves into its fall and winter events.

A few have already completed their athletics for the year, with Soccer among the sports that recently celebrated national championships,

When it come to the Prince Rupert area, there were four names we could find through our research to follow for the year:

Liam McChesney at Indiana State in NCAA  -- Division 1 basketball

Kai Leighton at Vancouver Island University

Eric Lees at Camosun College in Victoria  -- Canadian College Basketball

David Armstrong who just wrapped up his 2022 Canadian University Sports Soccer season at St. Thomas in New Brunswick.

Around the rest of the Northwest, the total comes to 26 on the rosters of schools from west coast to east.

The Bulkley Valley has sent the largest contingent at 11 athletes out across the province and country to compete,.

The Terrace Kitimat region was next, with 9 student athletes participating across the nation.

Haida Gwaii has three names to follow on their sporting adventures in 2022-23

To the Far East of the northwest, the Vanderhoof/Fort St. James area has 3 athletes at schools across Canada.

You can explore our archive page here, which features links to the biography pages for each of the student athletes, as well as in the case of Prince Rupert's collective some notes ahead towards their progress as the season moves forward.
