Prince Rupert Firefighters receive words of thanks from District of Port Edward

The Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department expanded on their coverage 
area for period recently, with coverage in Port Edward as that community
had their apparatus under repair

Some of the elements of the recently signed Shared Prosperity Agreement between the City of Prince Rupert and the District of Port Edward have seemingly already been put into action. 

At the end of January we outlined some notes related to a singing ceremony towards the agreement which took place at Prince Rupert City Hall, the scope of the agreement notes can be reviewed here.

While the City announced the signing of the agreement with an information release, the topic has yet to be discussed in a public session by the city's elected officials.

One of the themes from the agreement is to provide for long term fire service mutual aid, and that seems to have been launched earlier this month, with the District of Port Edward offering a letter of thanks to the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department for their coverage of the District while their apparatus was in for some required maintenance.

The District's letter is part of the Agenda for tonight's Prince Rupert Council Session.

There was no indication as to the length of time that the City of Prince Rupert Fire Department was providing for the coverage during that repair period.

The Port Edward Volunteer Fire Department has returned to its full coverage regimen, recently attending to a vehicle incident last Friday on Highway 16 to put out a commercial truck fire.
