Northwest RCMP offer up some helpful notes for Holiday shoppers

The Terrace RCMP is offering up some useful holiday season information for their own residents or those from Prince Rupert making the trek to Terrace for a weekend of shopping.

The Terrace based Crime Reduction Unit and Auxiliary members of the Terrace Detachment will be holding a Holiday Lock Out Auto Crime Operation this weekend, designed to raise public awareness and reduce crime through both education and a strong presence around that City's shopping areas.

They will be checking vehicles parked on the street or in parking lots through Saturday, noting if the vehicles have been locked and if you have taken proper personal protection moves when it comes to your purchases.

As part of the project, a Crime Prevention Notice will be left on the vehicle of the checked vehicles also with a voucher for a free cup of coffee courtesy of McDonalds.

The four areas that the RCMP want holiday shoppers to be aware and are of similar interest for residents of the North Coast include:

Are there items of value left in plain view?
Is your vehicle locked?
Does you vehicle have an anti-theft device?
Have you take all suitable steps to prevent auto crime?

You can learn more about their plans for Saturday from this media release from the Terrace Detachment.
