the 1980-2005 squad
There was a celebration of some 70 years of Rainmaker basketball this weekend at the Charles Hays Gymnasium, with the annual Rainmaker Alumni tournament coming to an end on Saturday evening and finding the 2016 Senior Boys in white coming up on the short side of the scoreboard at the hands of the Alumni squad.

The two days of basketball brought together Rainmakers of the Past and the present with a full schedule of games from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening.

Six teams participated in the weekend of basketball, competing in two pools, with a total of nine games taking place to bring the tourney to a conclusion.

For the finale the 1980-2005 vintage squad claimed the title, with a 101-86 victory over the Current Senior squad in the white jerseys for the weekend.

As part of the weekend, Rainmaker head coach (and alumni member) Mel Bishop was presented with a plaque honouring his over 30 years of dedication to the sport in the local community. The plaque was made from boards from the old Prince Rupert Senior Secondary school gym floor.
