First of new Doctors announced to fill vacancies at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital

Northern Health has started to make some progress on knocking off a few of the vacancies recently created at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, with the Health Authority announcing the arrival of two newly recruited specialist physicians for the North Coast.

The staffing announcement came last week through the Prince Rupert focused Northern Health Facebook page, welcoming Dr. Sumanta Dutta and Dr. Sagarika Basu to the region.

The announcement was a well received advisory from Northern Health  as relayed through the comments that followed the April 19th announcement.

The introduction of the two newest Specialists for the Prince Rupert area, makes for a start for the results of ongoing efforts to fill positions in Prince Rupert, which has seen a number of openings created in recent months.

Health Care in Prince Rupert was the theme of a
information session last fall for Prince Rupert Council

The state of the staffing at the local hospital was one of a number of themes that Northern Health officials spoke to last fall when they provided an extensive overview of the challenges for Health care in the region  and their efforts to address them.

And while the welcome mat is out for Doctor's Dutta and Basu, the work ahead towards filling the remaining open positions continues forward, with four local postings noted currently in the Northern Health inventory of ongoing searches.

And beyond the need for Doctors, there are still quite a few posts to be filled in may other areas of health care locally.

As of today, the Prince Rupert specific health care positions of all types numbers 82 and covers off four of the twenty pages of Job opportunities listed across Northwest British Columbia.
