Twin Fire Calls among many runs for busy Friday for Prince Rupert Fire Rescue

A pair of calls for assistance from the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department provided for two very different fire fighting experiences for the members of the crew from the First Avenue West Are Hall on Friday.

An afternoon call took firefighters out to the Industrial park and some wildfire experience as the fire crews attended to a brush fire just above a lumber storage area. The incident was raised to a second alarm after finding a second fire in the same vicinity.

As crews were attending to that incident, back at the fire hall the remaining members on duty were responding to a number of back to back automatic fire calls that came in during the period.

Later in the evening it was a residential fire at a Third Avenue West apartment complex that brought the crews into action.

With a call for assistance towards a balcony fire which was quickly extinguished by fire crews. The apartment and third floor of the structure were then ventilated.

The PRFD reminds residents to watch where they discard their cigarettes and to use a proper container for such.
