Prince Rupert Community Arts Council celebrates trio of Outstanding Artists

A Sunday gathering at the Tom Rooney Theatre paid tribute to this years Award recipients from the Prince Rupert Community Arts Council, with three well known members of the city's artistic community celebrated for their work.

Receiving the accolades for 2022 are Joan Mostad, Rudy Kelly and Treena Yaahiskaani Decker, who were acclaimed for the work in local art, theatre and writing.

As part of the celebration of their achievements, the Arts Council has been providing snapshots into their work this week through their Facebook portal, including some video presentations that explore themes from each of the award winners.

Prince Rupert City Councillor Barry Cunningham paid his own tribute to the three as part of Monday's City Council session, noting of their achievements and the strong impact that they all have had on the arts scene over the years in the community.

"I had the pleasure of attending the Arts Council Awards ceremonies on Sunday and I would just like to point out that three of the people who got the awards were Rudy Kelly, Joan Mostad and Treena Decker.  

All well deserved they've one a lot for theatre, writing and painting in this town. So it's nice to see them get recognized and I think the community should hear about it as well"
