Electoral Boundaries Commission in Northwest this week for public consultation

An opportunity for residents of the Northwest to provide some guidance towards any potential redraw of Legislature Constituency Boundaries is coming up this week, as the committee tasked with review of the existing electoral boundaries seeks input from the public.

As we outlined in March, the potential reassignment of the electoral riding boundaries comes with the potential expansion of the Legislature to include six new ridings, as well as to reconfigure existing ones to better reflect the population for each.

This is the first phase of the review, with the collection of feedback from the public part of the wider overview that will come, a preliminary report by the Commission is to be delivered to the Legislature by October of this year, with further public consultation to come  prior to any final decision on constituency map making.

For Prince Rupert and North Coast Residents Wednesday at 10 AM is the day and time to mark in the daytimer, with the Crest Hotel serving as the host venue for the session.

The full list of Northwest engagements on Haida Gwaii, Terrace and Smithers can be reviewed here.

In addition to the In person events this week, residents of the region can also participate through an online submission on the theme available here.
