Showtime For Seal Cove Salt Marsh

They say that all good things come to those who wait, and in the case of the Seal Cove Salt Marsh recreation space, the delays of the last six months may soon be forgiven as residents take in the spectacular setting of what should quickly become one of the go to destinations for the Prince Rupert area.

The project which got somewhat bogged down with supply chain issues and other delays through last fall and winter has been unofficially open for a few weeks now and on Saturday the City of Prince Rupert and Prince Rupert Port Authority will host a Grand Opening, to showcase the new recreation area in fine style.

The Saturday event, which is also co-hosted by the North Coast Ecology Centre Society takes place from 12:30  to 3PM, with a number of organizations on hand to provide for a full schedule of Free Family friendly events planned for those in attendance.

The Full Agenda for the Saturday event can be reviewed below:

The Concept for the Salt Marsh was announced by the Port as part of the Rupert 2030 Vision plan showcase of 2019, the land provided by the City, made for offsets for the Prince Rupert Port Authority related to Industrial waterfront development between the DP World Container Port and Ridley Island.

As for the completed project of the Salt Marsh location, some photos below provide a glimpse of the finished project and what visitors can anticipate upon a walk around the Seal Cove recreation site.

More on the project from concept to Grand Opening can be explored from our Archive page here.
