Survey currently underway across Northwest seeks to hear of the value of Tourism to region

As they continue with their post season retrospectives on how the 2022 tourism season fared, Tourism organizations across Northern British Columbia are looking for some feedback from the public on the value of the industry to the region

The launch of a survey to gain some more knowledge to the theme came on Monday with Tourism Prince Rupert taking the lead on the North Coast in outlining what the larger collective of tourism groups is looking to gain from their plans.

As the tourism industry and tourism related businesses continue their recovery from the dramatic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are working hard to understand resident attitudes and perceptions regarding the value of tourism in our communities.

To that end, we are launching a “Value of Tourism” survey designed to help us understand at both a regional and community level how the tourism economy is valued by local businesses and residents throughout Northwest BC, as well as how we can better support the needs of our tourism sector stakeholders.

The November survey serves as a follow up to some of their research of the summer, which provided a snapshot of where the industry was at the start of the 2022 season.

Tourism officials are looking to gain more insight into how the region has approach tourism post COVID, through the follow up survey.

Questions look towards the type of business that participants represent, awareness of tourism marketing, importance of tourism and whether it offers employment opportunities.

It also explores areas of how much a business relies on tourism, how much support you receive to operate in the tourism sector and how respondents view the approach to attracting visitors and how tourism options can also appeal to local residents.

The survey period runs until November 25th and you can access it here.

The feedback that they receive will be used towards their development of marketing and destination development planing for 2023.
