One of the more anticipated summer hiring calls in the region opened this week, with the Prince Rupert Port Authority announcing that it was now taking applications for 2024 Summer Student Positions.
The notice of the Port hiring call came with little in the way of fanfare, mostly as an item added Monday to their Careers Page listings.
The call for applicants by Port is one which each year attracts a strong volume of respondents eager to work for the region's largest employer and some with hopes of turning summer employment into a full time career after their school days are over.
In total there are 21 positions available for the summer ahead, 19 full time, 2 part time
The List of opportunities as follows:
Maintenance -- 4 positions
Human Resources -- 1 position
Engineering -- 2 positions
Government Relations -- 1 position
Environmental Sustainability -- 2 positions
Communications -- 1 position
Port Interpretive Centre -- 2 part time, 2 full time positions
Information Technology -- 1 position
Digital Business -- 1 position
Finance -- 1 position
Legal -- 1 position
Procurement -- 1 position
Gateway Operations -- 1 position
Toward the application process, the PRPA notes the following:
Applicants must attend school, college or university during the last school term and return to their studies in the subsequent academic year.
The hourly rate for the Summer Student positions ranges from $22.00 – $26.00 per hour.
Applicants must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved by Health Canada.
