Fundraisers near halfway mark to goal for Nelson Kinney Memorial Lung Clinic

A community move to celebrate the life of the late Nelson Kinney is resonating across the city, as fundraising continues towards a goal of 20,000 dollars to help create the Nelson Kinney Memorial Lung Clinic.

The long serving City Council member and fixture in the community for decades passed away in March of this year.

At the time of his passing, Councillor Barry Cunningham spoke to the idea of a clinic being created in the name of Mr. Kinney.

That initiative was picked up by Judy Fraser who became the driving force to help launch the fundraising project that has collected over 9,000 dollars to date towards the final goal.

The majority of the information sharing on the project has come through Facebook and Councillor Cunningham like many others has helped to spread the word on the project, with the latest update coming late last month.

Those interested in contributing to the fundraising project can send their donation c/o of the North Coast Health Improvement Society at PO Box 326, Prince Rupert, BC V8J 3P9

Please designate your donation to be put towards the Lung Clinic.

You can contact the NCHIS through their Facebook page, or Ms. Fraser at judy.fraser3915@gmail

Council members paid tribute to their colleague in April and at that time, Mr. Cunningham offered up some notes on the proposed community effort to create a legacy space for Mr. Kinney.

More community notes of interest can be found on our archive page.
