Northern Adventure mechanical issues leave it out of service

Repairs required for the Northern Adventure have the
BC Ferry currently tied up at Fairview Terminal

Repairs that are needed for the Northern Adventure's Fire Detection System have left the vessel tied up at the Fairview Terminal, with service to Haida Gwaii suspended until Tuesday at the earliest.

BC Ferries advised of the situation in a Service Notice on Canada Day, noting that they are awaiting the arrival of a specialist from Miami, Florida to provide for the required repairs.

The equipment, a key part of the vessel's Safety Equipment is required in order for the vessel to sail.

The situation has required a change to the BC Ferries schedule with the details listed below:





It is hoped that the Northern Adventure will be resuming its regular schedule on July 5th.

The issues for the Northern Adventure make for the second problem of the weekend for BC Ferries, the Northern Expedition left Prince Rupert about an hour behind schedule on Saturday owing to problems with the BC Ferries reservations system.
