The Province of British Columbia has announced more than 12.4 million dollars in funding to the BC Arts Council, which will now distribute shares of that funding to over 300 provincial organizations.
Among the list are two in the Prince Rupert area, with both the Museum of Northern British Columbia and Prince Rupert Community Arts Council to benefit from the cash injection today.
Both the Museum and Arts Council will receive their funding through a program of resilience supplement funding, in the case of the Museum of Northern BC that means 26,600 dollars, while the Prince Rupert Arts Council will receive 16,500 dollars.
As part of today's announcement North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice noted of the challenges that the Arts and Culture groups have faced over the last few years, particularly in the impact of COVID.
“The past couple years have been difficult for many artists and cultural organizations. Our government is providing the arts community with supports so they can recover and rebuild even stronger than before.”Haida Heritage Centre -- $30,000
