Today's a big day for many Canadians, as the Federal Government rolls out the first payment for 2024 in their Carbon Pricing Rebate program ,
For many residents that means a direct deposit or cheque in the mail box as part off the Climate Action Incentive payment program, however, its a program that is only in place for provinces where the Federal Carbon Tax is applied.
Residents of those provinces are in line for rebates ranging from $184 to $386
The list of those provinces is as follows, wth the compensation that for a family of four:

Keep in mind that British Columbians do not participate in the Federal carbon pollution pricing system (nor do Quebecers or residents of the Northwest Territories, Nunavut or the Yukon).

BC’s system is unique but still increasing.
ReplyDeleteIn April it will increase from $65/ton to $80/ton which is extra $0.09/litre extra on gas.
By 2030, it has to be $170/ton, which is another $0.40/litre on gas.
And the BC Climate Action Tax Credit is also increasing, as of January 5 now up to $447 per year for a single person, and for a family of four up to $893.50. Zero emission vehicles now account for 21% of new light vehicle sales.
ReplyDeleteThose tax credit increases work out to a daily amount of $1.22 - $2.45.
DeleteRemember that when you drive out of Rupert to look at zero emission vehicles. Vehicles that you will have to drive out of Rupert again to service because of the lack of qualified mechanics in Rupert.
I'll also take into account the $4000 EV purchase rebate.
