Approaching Weather brings Sailing Cancellations for Northern Expedition

Heavy Seas and strong winds have resulted in sailing cancellations
for BC Ferries today and Monday

The fast approaching weather system  heading for the North Coast and Haida Gwaii with its potential for 110km/h winds and heavy sea conditions has made for a decision by BC Ferries to cancel the sailings of the Northern Expedition tonight and tomorrow.

The Advisory posted to the BC Ferries Service Notices page also highlights some additional sailings planned for later in the week to accommodate those impacted by this weekends cancellations.

Conditions on Hecate Strait will be extreme heading into this evening and in the overnight period, with Winds  to reach 60 knots and seas of building to 7 metres by this evening.

As a result, Environment Canada has posted a STORM WARNING for waters in all directions from the North Coast and Haida Gwaii.
