Cold Weather makes for latest challenge for Shames Mountain Skiers


Mother Nature has thrown another wrench into the ski plans for Northwest residents, first a lack of snow on Shames Mountain kept the slopes closed over the New Year's holiday period, now the current blast of Arctic Air has made for a tough decision from Shames Management.

Yesterday, Shames announced that owing to the windchills of -30 anticipated for the ski resort, operations have been suspended for Thursday (today) with an update to come today as to what that may mean for Friday and the weekend ahead.


With a little luck and some moderating temperatures, Shames will see some weekend skiing,  with the resort planning for a range of activities  for the 12 and under skiers in the family.
