NWCC unions reach template agreement with Provincial Government

On Friday afternoon the Provincial Government released some background on a template agreement between the Post-Secondary Employer's association and two unions representing some 4,000 members of the BCGEU and CUPE.

Among the institutions represented as part of that agreement was Northwest Community College, one of eleven colleges and institutes involved in the Multi-Employer Table process.

For the most part, compensation was the main point of agreement between the two sides, which according to the BCGEU website features a five year agreement which expires in June of 2019.

Financial results were achieved at 5.5 per cent plus the Economic Stability Dividend

Outstanding concerns related to job evaluations/classifications, consultation and issues regarding the Pharmacare Drug Formulary in place were also addressed during the negotiating period.

A similar advisory was released through the CUPE BC website

Bargaining will now shift towards the local level, where issues of concern to each particular institution will be addressed by the bargaining committees.

Background on what the Template Agreement and Economic Stability Mandate are all about can be found here.
