MLA's Week, March 9-12, 2015

It would appear to have been an off the radar week when it came to political work in the Legislature for North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice.

From the seven sessions of the Legislature in the House, or those related to House Committee work listed for the week of March 9-12 , MLA Rice did not appear once in the index, providing for no participation in either Committee sessions, or House discussion.

As for her committee work, MLA Rice is a member of the Standing Committee on Children and Youth.

From March 9-16, that Committee did not meet in session at all this week.

The trail from her twitter feed and Facebook page would suggest that the MLA was spending some of the week on Haida Gwaii

And while we may not have much to review on MLA Rice and her discussion points in the Legislature this week. Her work in Victoria was on the minds of residents and particularly on those of some of former counterparts on Prince Rupert Council.

At Monday's City Council Budget Forum, developments out of Victoria found their way into a good portion of the discussion on the evening.

At that public forum, a number of City Council members highlighted their ongoing concern over Provincial taxation measures, regulations that are impacting on the City's ability to access revenue for City services.

Councillor Thorkelson took the lead on that discussion of Monday evening, suggesting that residents contact both their MLA and Liberal cabinet members, in order  to express their opinion on the topic.

We won't hear much from Ms. Rice out of Victoria for the next week either, as the has now Chamber risen for its Spring Break, MLA's are next scheduled to sit in session on Monday, March 23rd.

There is more background on the North Coast MLA available from our MLA's Week archive as well as our General Archive on the Legislature.
