March it would seem is budget season in Prince Rupert.
Last night the City of Prince Rupert hosted a Budget consultation session at the Lester Centre and later this week, it will be the turn for School District 52 to seek out some engagement from the community.
That opportunity to ask questions and some provide input comes up on Thursday, when the School District 52 Board hosts their own information session at Charles Hays Secondary School.
Anyone who may have comments and suggestions for School board officials to consider can provide their input Thursday starting at 7:00 PM in the Multi-Purpose room at CHSS.
To add to the information available for review for those interested in public education, the School District website features a few items for further consideration related to the Budget Consultation Process.
Included in their presentation, is some background from past sessions featuring a listing of programs and other items related to local engagement in the schools .
As well, the School District offers a Power Point presentation from the meeting of January 26th, which provides a wide range of information for stakeholders in the process.
The short overview puts some background to such issues as enrolment declines, funding protection concerns, budget shortfalls and a surplus that is shrinking.
The full presentation can be reviewed here.
Thursday's meeting is a continuation of the community engagement process that the School District has put in place through the year to explain budget concerns with parents and the public.
It will also be the final opportunity for the public to address school trustees as budget decisions come closer to having to be delivered.
