Northern Health seeks your opinion on Northern BC's Grand Challenges on youth mental health and substance use

Northern Health is looking for some further comment on the challenges for youth, families and providers when it comes to mental health and substance use in the North, as they put the focus on the wrap up to a summer survey and expand on their work over the last few months.

During that period youth, families and providers from the North have identified over 1,600 “Grand Challenges” to improve child/youth mental health and substance use care and outcomes in Northern communities.

Northern Health has taken those responses and condensed into themes, which were then narrowed down to 30 priorities through additional ranking.

In this final round of the survey, the Health Authority asking you to provide your thoughts and feedback on some of the identified top challenges.

The top-rated challenges from this survey will be selected for upcoming work by a group of regional partners collaborating to improve care and outcomes.

The survey is available on the Northern Health website.

As a way of saying thanks for your participation and feedback, at the end of the survey participants  will be provided the opportunity to enter your email for a chance to win one of five $50 Amazon gift cards.

Last year, Northern Health introduced a new mobile unit to bring mental health and addictions help to the Northwest, you can learn more about that initiative here.

To date however, there has not been much more noted about the program since it launched in 2019.
