The District of Port Edward has launched a major road infrastructure initiative this week, posting a call for Tenders for a Road Reconstruction project to the BC Bid website.
The tender documents, posted Wednesday to the provincial site, outline the scope of the project to reconstruct Evergreen Drive and Wildwood Avenue
The supply and installation of all labour, materials, equipment, and incidentals required for the road reconstruction, including excavation, installation of sub-base and base gravels, sanitary sewer replacement, drainage installation, preparation for road and sidewalk paving, concrete curbs and other related works on Evergreen between Skeena Drive to approx. 110 m past the Wildwood intersection, and Wildwood Ave from Skeena Drive to Evergreen.
The District of Port Edward has a few markers in place for the work, which include no work on Sundays unless in case of an emergency or special circumstance and advance notice of any work to take place on Stat holidays.
The 2020 summer focus for the project will be to have the work to be performed between Skeena Drive and Sunset Drive along Wildwood fully completed no later than September 26th, 2020.
Substantial completion for the entire project is to be in place no later than August 1st 2021

Consultation work for Port Edward on the project is being handled by the McElhanney Ltd. Terrace office, with inquires related to the tender to be directed to Chris Houston.
The District will be accepting hard copy Tenders at the Submission Location indicated below on or before the Tender Closing of August 10th at 2 PM.
Those looking to submit their bid are asked to deliver Sealed tenders in separate envelopes marked as follows:
"Tender for Evergreen Drive and Wildwood Ave Reconstruction - Reference No. PEC-2020-05 - Attention Danielle Myles Wilson” will be received at the District of Port Edward offices, located at 770 Pacific Ave, Port Edward, BC V0V 1G0.
The District's office hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 to 4:30.
They note that any submissions must include an electronic copy of the submission on a USB memory stick.
The District outlined the path ahead towards reconstruction in June through their newsletter to the community for that month, the road remediation work was also a part of their larger overview through the District of Port Edward Annual report.
