April set to be a busy month for North Coast Ecology Centre Society

A new schools program and the next instalment of their Coast Conversations sessions makes for a busy month ahead for the Prince Rupert based North Coast Ecology Centre Society.

Tomorrow night is set as the next presentation as part of the Coast Conversations Series, with the Society hosting Bryn Letham who will be speaking about his research and knowledge of deep-time coastal landscape change.

His research and review of the topic to be part of a Free Virtual lecture with a start time of 7:30 over the zoom platform.

Theme for the night is: "Reconstructing Sea Level and Shoreline Change Since the End of the Ice Age: Exploring Dynamic Coastal Landscapes and Long-Term Patterns of Human Settlement on the Northwest Coast"

More background on that event and an opportunity to get a spot in the virtual conference room can be reviewed here.

The Society has also launched a program of education with local schools, a collaboration with Triton Environmental Consultants.

As part of the project, they will be piloting a virtual live dive program with some grade 4/5 classes and have released content on their website to educate about the local underwater ecosystems.

Members of the general public can also explore the depths just off the North Coast through a number of portals created as part of the project.

Learn more about that initiative here.

You can find out more about the work of the Society in the region from their website or social media pages.
