Stats Canada begins recruitment process for 2021 Census

2021 is a census year, and for Statistics Canada the show will go on, pandemic or not as the national agency prepares to take its snapshot of the nation, as it does every five years.

Towards their work, some 32,000 people across Canada will be hired on as part of the Census for 2021, with hours of work between 30 to 40 on a flexible schedule.

Pay rates for the census positions range from 17.83 to 21.77 per hour

Some background on the work of a census taker can be found from a video that Stats Canada has posted to their jobs page.

The full information page for the census employment opportunities can be reviewed here.

Included in the overview is a list of 23 Frequently Asked Questions about the positions and what to expect.

This year the census will start on May 3rd, when most Canadians will be informed as to the online process that has been created as part of our civic obligations.

Data compiled from the census is used towards planning for a range of civic themes from schools and emergency planning to determining population bases for funding from a range of sources.
