Landlord Tenant information sessions set for Tuesday and Wednesday in Prince Rupert

Information sessions geared to towards providing both Landlords and tenants with more background on rental issues and responsibilities will be taking place in Prince Rupert this week.

With two events hosted by the Residential Tenancy Branch taking place at the Hecate Strait Employment Training Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Prince Rupert sessions are just two of a number of similar meetings to be held across the region this week to provide background information to local residents about their rights and obligations when it comes to rental accommodation in the province of British Columbia.

Staff from the RTB will be in attendance to provide background on a number of issues of interest to both renters and landlords, the information sessions will focus on such areas of concern as:

How the law applies to landlords and tenants

Background on rental agreements and leases

Repairs and maintenance expectations

Rent increases

Eviction and ending a tenancy

Tuesday's session runs from 6:30 to 8:30 PM

While the Wednesday program runs from 9 AM to 11 AM

Both sessions take place at the Hecate Strait offices located at 101-201 First Avenue East

The information sessions are part of a current tour of the Northwest, with stops planned for Terrace Today and Tomorrow, Kitimat on Wednesday and Thursday and Smithers on Thursday as well

For those that can't attend the sessions in their community the Residential Tenancy Branch will also be hosting a live online information session on Tuesday, May 26th from Noon to 2 PM.
