The Northwest heads to the 2015 campaign trail

Residents of the Skeena-
Bulkley Valley riding will join
other Canadians in casting their
ballots on October 19th in the
Federal election called August 2nd
With the writ dropped on August 2nd for the 2015 Federal election, voters of the Skeena-Bulkley Valley riding will be heading to the polls on October 19th.

The Prime Minister's visit to the Governor General on Sunday morning makes for an eleven week marathon for those contesting the riding, not to mention those of us about to be bombarded with flyers, advertising and maybe even a knock on the door.

For the Northwest, as of the election call, only two of the four main parties had announced their candidates for the campaign ahead, with the Conservatives having selected Tyler Nebsitt to offer the challenge to incumbent NDP MP Nathan Cullen.

With the election call now official, we launch our archive page of news items related to the Skeena-Bulkley Valley vote, providing links to the candidates information pages, as well as to news items of note as the lengthy campaign builds towards election day.

As the other political parties make their plans known for the riding, we'll provide their links to our archive page as well.

As the election campaign moves forward, we will also be watching events on the national stage through our Political Affairs blog D'arcy McGee.

That portal focuses on political issues that have had some impact on the North Coast, as well as provides links and items of interest on the larger national scene.

It still is a bit of a work in progress, but you can track back some of the political stories of the last year through it, as well as access items of interest we have culled from a range of media options.
