The Province of British Columbia and Northern Health are getting the word out on the dangers of measles (photo from BC Gov't) |
The ongoing effort to ensure that all of the children of the North Coast are up to date on their measles shots will see two options available for parents and guardians today.
The first is the regular clinic which takes place at the Northern Health Authority offices in the Ocean Centre mall, that clinic is a three times a week opportunity (Monday-Wednesday-Friday) to receive the measles shot, with the drop in clinic in operation from 1 to 4:30 PM.
Today also offers the opportunity for children attending Ecóle Roosevelt Park Community School to receive their measles shot if required, with that clinic taking place from 1:30 to 4 PM.
The next in school clinic is set for Lax Kxeen School on the city's east side set for June 10th.
In May, the program made a stop at Prince Rupert Middle School, with two sessions taking place.
You can learn more about Northern Health's community catch up program for measles immunization from this background item.
More notes related to the province's efforts to ensure awareness of the immunization program can be found here.
For those living outside of the Prince Rupert area, the Northern Health article also provides a list of where the measles shot can be accessed in communities across the Northwest.
