There were a few tense moments for residents of the far east side of Prince Rupert on Thursday evening, with a strong response from members of the city's RCMP detachment attending to calls of a male with a weapon walking the streets of the 11th Avenue East and Immanuel Avenue area.
Through a social media post to the RCMP Facebook page, Prince Rupert Mounties outlined that upon attendance they advised residents to stay in their homes as they began their search for the subject.
The all clear was sounded after 7 PM after responding members determined that the area was safe, the individual and the weapon in question that of an air soft rife located, with no further threat to the public.
Residents were then advised that they were free to leave their homes.
No timeline between the first call for response and the resolution of the issue was released by the RCMP.
