Rain is coming for the North Coast and Northwest for the next few days, but from Sunday on we're going to feel like it's the middle of summer as high temperatures settle over the region |
The Mother's Day weekend and beyond is going to more of a mid summer weather pattern than our normal spring weather, with Environment Canada issuing a Special Weather Statement for the Terrace/Kitimat region.
The forecast noting of Daytime highs that will be 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal highs reaching into the low 30s startng on Friday and carrying through into Wednesday.
The Terrace-Kitmat forecast indicates the more extreme heat won't arrive until Sunday.
However, the sudden rise in temperatures will have officials watching area rivers closely as the snowpack melt off accelerates.

Prince Rupert and the North Coast communities won't be quite as hot, with the warm days set to start on Sunday with highs of a comfortable 17 degrees.
We will have however have to deal with a bit of precipitation before we reach the sunny days from Sunday on.
