The end of June could see the labour situation at Port Facilities on the BC coast come to a standstill, with members of the ILWU, including those in Prince Rupert at Local 505 providing a near unanimous endorsement of strike action.
The results released by the ILWU today, note of a 99.24% vote in favour of a strike.

As we outlined last week, the Strike vote was called for last Friday and Saturday up and down the BC Coast.
There was no breakdown in the vote totals offered up for each Local.
The strike mandate for the union side of the negotiations will turn up some heat for the BCMEA and the Federal Government, if there is any hopes to avoid any kind of disruption to the flow of goods through British Columbia's coastal ports.
The earliest that the ILWU negotiators could act on the mandate provided by the membership is June 24th when the current 'cooling off' period comes to an end.
A cessation of work on the docks, whether by strike or management lockout would come following a 72 hour advisory.
The period between now and that time offers the Federal Labour Ministry one more opportunity to assist both sides in finding some common ground to avoid any disruption.
