Prince Rupert Time Travelling

If you find you've been arriving early for events you can blame your microwave, or other electronic clock device in your home.

Your eyes have not been deceiving you, time has indeed marched forward just a bit quicker these last few weeks on the North Coast and across there Northwest.

That's because BC Hydro has switched much of the grid over to  Rio Tinto Power generation while they do some work on their own infrastructure.

The work on a hydro tower in the Vanderhoof area means that from about Burns Lake to the west, everyone's clocks are accelerating owing to the difference between the Rio Tinto generated power and that of BC Hydro.

The result is time moves faster in. sense, at least for your electrical devices, while you remain on your own set schedule.

The work underway is part of BC Hydro's planning for larger capacity from Prince George to the Skeena Valley.

That plain initiative comes following some significant interest from North Coast Industry that is looking to access clean electricity

The Northwest returns to BC Hydro supply in increments, with the Bulkley Valley to be back with the provincial agency by mid month, the rest of us will be looking to readjust our clocks come the end of June.

More notes on BC Hydro themes can be reviewed here.
