The 2023 Prince Rupert Cruise season came to a close on Tuesday, with the Seabourn Odyssey making her 10th and final port call yesterday. The last chance for the potential 450 guests to explore the North Coast and some of the city's areas of interest.
The fifteen hour port call providing the final chapter for a busy season that started on May 3rd and the arrival of the Cardinal Lines Miracle.
While the 2023 season fades over the horizon, the work for 2024 has long been underway.
Of note for the year to come, are plans for the Oceania cruise line and from them Prince Rupert port watchers could see a new vessel to watch for next May, with the cruise industry publications noting of the positioning of the Oceania Riviera to the Alaska Cruise runs.
The Riviera is described as a renovated vessel which will be the travel home for 1,250 guests, it begins it's first season as part of the Alaska Cruise industry in the summer of 2025.
Prince Rupert is included in the Explorer's Alaska service, that tour will be a eight day voyage and serve: Whittier to Vancouver visiting Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Skagway, Sitka, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert. Departs May 21, 2025.
Also making for some changes for next season is Carnival lines which will be transiting the 2,124 passenger vessel Carnival Legend through the coastal BC waters to Alaska, with Prince Rupert on their itinerary starting May 12th, 2024.
