The Charles Hays Rainmakers are finding that Five is the Number for this early part of 2015, holding down the fifth place spot for yet another week in the British Columbia AAA Basketball rankings.
It's a location that they've been calling their own now since January 22nd, with consistent placements there from those checking their notes and putting together the rankings week in and week out.
The most recent of highly anticipated weekly listings was posted to the Vancouver Province Sports portal on Wednesday afternoon.
And for Mel Bishop's team, there would be no movement up, nor any movement down in a week that saw a new number one named to top the provincial rankings, with Sir Charles Tupper vaulting three spots from number four to number one.
The weekly rankings continue to provide a province wide snapshot of which teams are finding momentum, with the prospect of potential tournament berths soon to appear on the horizon for the Provincials in March.
On the North Coast however, the focus for basketball in the short term will be shifting for the week ahead.
The High school action will surrender the local spotlight to that of the 56th Annual All Native Basketball Tournament. The popular North Coast event is set to take to the floor of the Russell Gamble Gym at the Civic Centre from February 8 - 14.
When they're not taking in some of the ANBT action at the Civic Centre, the Rainmakers will be keeping their focus on the next weekend to watch, which comes up on February 13th and 14th when CHSS takes on Nechako Valley.
A weekend series which should not only offer up a good tune up for the Senior Boy's, but provide an opportunity to lock down their blue print for the run up to the end of the month and the regional tournament.
While it seems that we've only just started the competitive basketball season, all of that hard work receives it's first major test in three weeks time.
As Charles Hays hosts the Senior Boys Zone Championship, taking place February 27, 28 and 29 at the CHSS Gymnasium.
