VIA Rail makes changes to Friday passenger service as Northern BC digs out of storm

The large and still growing volume of snow that has affected points east of Terrace has taken a toll on the VIA schedule for the next few days.

Track conditions along the Northern route have suffered high snow accumulations and will require clearing by CN crews and attention to any track concerns before the passenger service will resume.

Friday VIA advised that Train Number 6 from Prince Rupert to Prince George scheduled to depart today had been cancelled, with further service between Prince George and Jasper scheduled for Saturday to be replaced by a Bus service.

At last word, they plan to operate Saturday's service according to schedule with the Prince George to Prince Rupert train making its westward journey in the morning.
