From the un-loading dock to shipping areas of the Canadian Fish plant there has been a bit of activity of the Prince Rupert waterfront this week |
It certainly isn't the volume of work that once passed through the Canadian Fish plant on George Hills way, but this week at least has provided for some work for shore workers, with fish passing through the facility on the Prince Rupert waterfront, destined mostly for trucks and an out of town trip to the South.
For most of the this week, the trucks have been arriving and departing, with a number of workers called in to work mostly in unloading and other assorted fish plant duties before the fish from the north makes its road trip to facilities in the south.
In late June UFAWU-Unifor provided a grim forecast for local workers, making use of their Facebook page union officials relayed some notes on the fate of some of the more familiar runs of the past which this year are in a bit of trouble as far as returns go.
Of note from the update, the prospect that what could be some significant levels out of Alaska perhaps making their way to the local plant.
